Summary:
Every third Monday of the month, sisters Cynthia and Rachel open the doors to their salon "Racine" in Islip, Long Island. Determined to make the day’s customers feel beautiful, they know today’s challenge goes beyond painted toes or the right haircut. The brassy duo have dedicated third Mondays to women undergoing chemotherapy – women like Cambria and Linda, two unlikely friends who meet at Racine. Cambria, 36, has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer – a diagnosis that shakes her young, growing family to its core. Linda, meanwhile, 58, has been beating the odds for seventeen years. Their friendship sustains Cambria through chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation, and mothering with cancer. Meanwhile, Linda considers ending her decades-long treatment as her husband, Warren, is slowly consumed by his fury at the disease. Together, they redefine their understanding of beauty, as well as their roles as mothers, wives, and women.
